The Gennarini purification plant in Taranto is one of the most significant in Puglia, the third largest. Recently, it has undergone significant investment by Acquedotto Pugliese (AQP) to improve its efficiency and environmental impact. Specifically, a total of more than €70 million has been allocated for various projects.
Among them is the upgrading of the plant: with an investment of about 37 million euros, the improvement aims to make the purification process more efficient, ensuring purified water that can be reused in agriculture
In addition, a new submarine pipeline is also planned: an infrastructure worth 15 million euros, about 2 km long from the coast, planned to be in operation by 2025, which will further improve discharge management
These interventions demonstrate AQP's commitment to advanced technological solutions for land protection and sustainable reuse of water resources.
