Irigom
Irigom is a company based in Massafra (TA) that specializes in the treatment of ELTs, with the objective of storing and recovering them through processes of selection and sorting, separation, washing and volumetric adjustment in order to destine them for energy recovery at authorized cement plants and/or for the production of secondary raw material.
Irigom's corporate mission is to reduce the landfilling of waste by prioritizing material recovery. This commitment plays an essential role in solving environmental problems related to the disposal and recovery of end-of-life tires (ELTs).
ELTs, due to their chemical and physical characteristics, have a calorific value comparable to that of coal, making them a widely used energy source globally to meet the demand of energy-intensive industries such as cement plants and energy or steam plants. These plants use it in different forms, such as whole or reduced to lumps.
The use of material from ELTs as an alternative to traditional energy sources in the above sectors results in reduced emissions of NOx, one of the most widespread and harmful air pollutants, making this solution significantly less polluting.
In addition, the production of fully recyclable products and the use of recycled materials represent an activity with a positive environmental impact, reinforcing Irigom's commitment to sustainability.
