Comune di Taranto
The Ionian Research and Innovation Institute for Sustainable Health (IRIIS) represents an ambitious project aimed at transforming Taranto into an international center of excellence for research and innovation in sustainable health. This institute aims to develop integrated scientific and technological solutions to address global challenges related to human, animal and environmental health, in line with the concept of One Health, which emphasizes the interconnection between these areas.
The project involves the creation of state-of-the-art research and training infrastructure in the heart of Taranto's historic center, fostering urban regeneration and strengthening the link between science and community.
A distinctive aspect of IRIIS is the application of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data, to analyze and solve complex problems related to health and sustainability. The institute will serve as a multidisciplinary hub, engaging researchers, companies, institutions and citizens in an ongoing dialogue to develop innovative solutions.
Consistent with the goals of the European Green Deal, IRIIS stands as a driver of change for the ecological and digital transition, helping to make Taranto a model of sustainable and resilient development. The project will not only have a positive impact on the health and well-being of local communities, but will also strengthen the city's position as an international reference point for integrated health and environmental research.
Finally, IRIIS represents an extraordinary opportunity to create skilled employment and attract investment to the area, marking a new chapter in Taranto's history as a hub of scientific innovation and sustainability.
